
Head of Tax (Allianz Europe)
Are you a tax expert ready to take on a dynamic leadership role at Allianz Europe? We're seeking a Head of Tax for the Benelux region who will drive strategic tax management and planning for our operations in Belgium and the Netherlands, as well as overseeing governance for Allianz Life Luxembourg.
What will you do?
This is more than just a tax role – it's about shaping the future of our organization through proactive tax advice, meticulous reporting, and effective risk management. You'll be the bridge between different operations and the wider Allianz Group, ensuring alignment with Group Taxation while also representing the BeNeLux entities externally in negotiations and industry forums.
As the Head of Tax, you'll lead a talented team of nine direct and indirect reports, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing across borders. Your focus will be on execution excellence in each jurisdiction, driving synergy and continuous improvement. And with regular travel between our offices in the Netherlands and Belgium, you'll be at the heart of our cross-border operations.
But that's not all. You'll also play a crucial role in financial management, overseeing budgeting, cost control, and project proposals to the Board and M&A Committee. Your strategic insights will shape our decisions and drive our success.
Your responsibilities:
- Tax management
- Performing tax management, tax planning and strategy for Allianz OEs in Benelux (also regarding M&A tax).
- Overseeing fiscal controls, intervening when hick-ups may occur, boosting tax awareness via knowledge sharing in a clear and comprehensive manner to non-experts in the business.
- Sparringpartner on fiscal issues to Board and senior management, especially Benelux CFO, in a diverse landscape, showing a good understanding of the complexity of the matrix organization.
- Manages the regional tax function and provides support regarding the tax affairs of the strategic holding located in the Netherlands to local management and Allianz Group.
- Tax advice and support
- Providing tax advice to all OEs with activities in Belgium and the Netherlands and to the Shareholder in Munich (e.g. Allianz Benelux, Allianz Europe, AGI, AGCS, Allianz Technology, Allianz Direct, Allianz Trade, Allianz Partners etc.).
- Supporting senior management on day-to-day tax queries.
- Participating in regional and local projects.
- External representation
- Interact with tax authorities related to daily business, tax audits, advance rulings, APA etc.
- Represent the organization externally (e.g. meetings with industry forums).
- Lead fiscal procedures and/or lawsuits.
Is this you?
- Master’s degree in Tax;
- At least 12 years of experience in big4, tax authorities and/or in house;
- Managerial track record in steering direct report and managing managers;
- Extensive international fiscal know how on a senior level within a global financial player;
- Outstanding negotiation skills, including the ability to negotiate from a non-hierarchical position.
